Get Married In Belize

The following provides an outline of the legal requirements for getting married in Belize:

• Both parties must be in Belize three days before the application for the marriage is submitted.
• Application must be completed and signed in the presence of a JP.
• Valid photo ID must be presented.
• Photocopy of passport showing date of entry into Belize.
• Proof of marital status, documents must be presented if widowed or divorce.
• Marriage license fee of $100.00.

Application forms can be obtained from the  General Registry, Supreme Court Building, Belize City and Attorney General Office, Belmopan.

The expected wait time for approval could be up to one week. An additional $5.00 is required to perform the ceremony in a court.
