  • Couples should be on Guadeloupe for two full working (week) days before the wedding day.
  • Both parties must have either a valid passport or birth certificate.
  • A decree absolute or death certificate must be presented if applicable.
  • An affidavit is required confirming single status. This can be obtained from a Notary Public in the home country or on island for a cost of US$ 20.00 or EC$ 50.00 (compulsory in Guadeloupe)

Catholic Unions

  • If the ceremony is to be performed by a Catholic priest, it must take place in a Catholic Church, and a letter must come from the couple’s resident priest verifying that they are unmarried and have received the necessary instructions.

Anglican Unions

  • If an Anglican priest or other minister of religion is to perform the ceremony, a letter must come from the couple’s resident minister verifying that they are known and unmarried.

Fees

  • $80 – If the couple is residing or staying on Guadeloupe for the minimum period of two-week days
  • $20 – If the couple is residing here for 15 days prior to the marriage, the fee is only US $20.

The following is an outline of the requirements for getting married in Grenada.

Couples must be resident in Grenada for at least three working days before their wedding.

Application for a Marriage License need to be made in person at the Prime Minister’s Office. This should be done only after the necessary stamp duty and license fees have been paid at the Treasury office.
This license should be ready two days after.

  • Valid identification, passport and birth certificate.
  • Notarized Statutory Declarations of Single Status.
  • Divorce certificate or death certificate (if applicable). In both cases, a minimum waiting period of ten months applies before a woman can remarry.

  • US citizens are required to write to the American Consulate in Santo Domingo requesting permission to marry.
  • $100 US each legalization, $40 US each translation.

  • One member of the couple must be in Dominica for a minimum of two (2) days prior to the ceremony.
  • Birth Certificates and passports must be presented.

Follow these steps to prepare for your wedding on the British Virgin Islands

  • You can apply for the marriage license on the day of your arrival in the BVI but you must be on the island for at least three days before the ceremony can take place.
  • The fee of $110.00 (in BVI postage stamps) for a Special License for those residents in the BVI for three days is required.
  • If you have been on the island for 15 days or more the fee is reduced to $50.00 (in BVI postage stamps) for an Ordinary License.
  • Passport is required as proof of identity and to confirm date of arrival in the British Virgin Islands.
  • Couple must also present proof of marital status (certified or original copies of decree absolute for divorced spouses or death certificates for deceased spouses.)
  • Two witnesses are required for signing license application and two witnesses must present at the marriage ceremony.(They do not need to the same two witnesses)

Once the application has been processed, the couple must present themselves at the office of the Registrar General to schedule an appointment for the ceremony.

Weddings are performed by the Registrar General outside the Office between the hours of 9:00am and 6:30pm, Monday through Saturday, and inside the Office between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

A complete application with the following is required by the Registrar:

  • The names of the two parties as it appears on your travel documents
  • The ages of both parties
  • The occupation of both parties
  • Marital status
  • The names of the two witnesses to the ceremony
  • $35.00 if wedding ceremony is performed in the office, and $100.00 if it is performed elsewhere.

If you wish to be married in a church of your choice, Wedding Banns must be published on three (3) consecutive Saturdays or Sundays in that church. You must make arrangements with the Minister of the church in advance. Publishing of banns is not necessary if a license is obtained.

  • A Bermuda Government form entitled the Notice Of Intended Marriage must be completed. Ideally, this should be sent four weeks before the wedding.
  • The completed application should be mailed along with a cashiers check,  international money order or bank draft payable to the Accountant General, Bermuda in the amount of US$220, to the Registry General.
  • Parental consent is required if either party is under 18 years of age.
  • Divorce or death certificates should be sent where applicable.
  • Once the Registry General receives these papers, the registrar will place the announcement of your intended marriage in press.  Provided there are no valid objections,  the license will be issued.
